San Diego Virtual School is a public charter school that serves students residing in San Diego and adjoining counties, including Orange, Riverside and Imperial counties. Our charter school provides a personalized and collaborative learning institution where dedicated staff and flexible educational programs to ensure the facilitation of students’ academic and personal growth.
A comprehensive online program, we offer students in middle and high school (grades 6 to 12) access to a wealth of online courses in six subject areas. Since curriculum is completely online, you can login and access your courses from home, the public library, or anywhere there is a computer and Internet access. Additionally, your online coursework can be completed from a variety of locations throughout San Diego and surrounding counties, should you prefer to work from a brick and mortar location.
Areas that teachers can meet with students one-on-one at community locations include San Marcos, La Mesa, Chula Vista, and other surrounding areas.

San Diego Virtual School is a tuition-free program offered in San Diego and districts across the state. As a charter school of San Diego, we offer you the unique opportunity and flexibility to complete your coursework at your own pace, while receiving a high-quality education and developing life skills that will allow you to achieve your academic and personal goals.
As the top online high school in California, we offer one-on-one online interaction with California-credentialed, highly qualified teachers with extensive experience in teaching both virtual setting, and by appointment at various community locations throughout the counties. San Diego Virtual students can interact with their assigned teachers from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM Monday through Friday on demand via phone, email, or instant message, or at community locations. All of SDVS teachers are also California-credentialed, highly qualified teachers who are assigned to a small group of students in order to supervise their overall educational program.
High School Diploma in San Diego
Upon completion of the required 220 credits for graduation, San Diego Virtual School will issue a high school diploma. And while our charter school provides an online curriculum, we can also operate in much the same way as a traditional high school with a formal graduation ceremony, as well as additional student activities throughout the school year.
If you are, or will be, in grades 6 through 12, a resident of San Diego, Orange, Riverside or Imperial County, under 19 years of age, and are willing to maintain a minimum of 5 to 6 courses (25 to 30 credit hours), we encourage you to apply.
