Calvin Goodson: Math Teacher

My name is Calvin Goodson and I am a Math teacher at San Diego Virtual School.  I work at the Vista Center and I have a multiple subjects credential with a subject matter authorization in mathematics.  I started teaching in 2010 and I truly enjoy working with students.  I am married with two kids and we have one dog.  I enjoy golfing and coaching track.

Rachael Johnson: Math Teacher

Hello! My name is Ms. Johnson and I am a math teacher here at San Diego Virtual School! I have a multiple subject teaching credential (for elementary school) and a math teaching credential, as well as a Masters degree in Teaching. My favorite part of teaching is working with amazing students and helping them see that math is easier than they think! I also love to see them succeed!

I currently live in East County and I have a chiweenie dog that I love to play with. I also love to eat good food (but not cook it), go to concerts, and do CrossFit!

Debbie Justeson: Math Teacher

My name is Debbie Justeson and I have been teaching since 1987.  I began my career as a TA for a Montessori School, pursued my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, then moved on to Elementary Education.  During the movement of changing Junior High Schools to Middle Schools, I switched venues and took a position as a Math/Science Teacher at a Middle School.  In the meantime, I received my Masters Degree in Education from Long Beach State University, got married, moved to San Diego, then had a child.
Since then, I have taught math part-time at Grossmont and Cuyamaca Community Colleges, spoke at several State and National Conferences regarding Math Education, taught Math Education classes at San Diego State University, and became a Board Member for the Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District, which I currently hold.  In 2010, I joined San Diego Virtual School and am thoroughly enjoying my position working with students from Grades 6-12.

My husband and I continue to live in La Mesa with our two children.  My daughter attends Helix High School and my son attends Magnolia Science Academy.  We love hanging out with our kids, being a part of their lives while they live with us, and spending every penny we earn on them.

Reyna Mena: Math Teacher

My name is Mrs. Mena. I am a math teacher here at San Diego Virtual School. I received my Master’s Degree in Education from National University. I discovered my love for teaching when I was a math and AVID tutor during my first year of college. I enjoy working with students and I love to help them succeed.
When I am not teaching, I love spending time with my family, play tennis, read books, and watch movies. My favorite food is carne asada burritos and Tostilocos!

Ashton Perez: Math Teacher

Hello! My name is Ms. Perez. I am a math teacher here at SDVS. I am very excited to be a part of such an amazing team of teachers and staff. I am looking forward to contributing and seeing what this new school year holds! The best part about teaching is helping my students succeed and watching them transform as they conquer each new challenge. Aside from teaching I love being outdoors! Some of my favorite activities are playing basketball, hiking, and snorkeling! An interesting fact about me is I have 8 siblings!

Chris Benassi: Math Teacher

My name is Chris Benassi and I am excited for my first year teaching math at San Diego Virtual School!  I have taught math for four years, hold my single subject teaching credential (math), and also received my Master’s degree in Kinesiology from Humboldt State University.  My favorite part about teaching is helping every student set and achieve goals that at one point seemed impossible.  When I am not teaching, I enjoy running, coaching distance runners, and spending time with my wife and our two Jack Russell terriers.
